It’s been a busy, busy summer here at the Beagles & Bargains household and I know I’ve got some explaining to do about why I haven’t been posting as regularly this summer. We have some big exciting changes coming SOON, so I hope you don’t hold it against me too much.
These changes have taken almost all of my time the last month, so I haven’t had the time to just sit down and write to let our Beagles & Bargains family know what’s going on. Instead, we made a fun video, which I hope you enjoy!
Don’t get the ring joke? My boyfriend and I have been dating for nearly 9 years, so you could say we’ve been asked about it a few times.
That’s right… We’re moving!
We’re not only moving, but we’re moving cross country all the way from Northern Virginia to the Denver, Colorado metropolitan area. It’s a HUGE change for both myself and my boyfriend, but we’re really excited for the new adventure and I think the dogs will both enjoy it too.
Though we made the decision in early June, it felt like it came on pretty suddenly because we were actually out of the country visiting family in Scotland for the last two weeks of June! And, there is really never enough time for a big move.
This is the biggest move I’ve ever had to do and a first for me in that I’ll be more than just a few hours drive from my parents. I have grown up in the Northern Virginia area and lived here for most of my adult life, so it’s definitely bittersweet. I still love this area despite the ridiculous housing market, unbearable traffic, humidity, and political overtones. Northern Virginia will always be home.
So while I’m sad to leave friends and family behind and some AMAZING restaurants, I’m really excited to go on a new adventure with Ralph, Luna, and my boyfriend. We have a swanky new apartment with a 1/4 acre dog park in the community and a dedicated office space for both myself and my boyfriend. Plus, the kitchen is bigger! I’m really excited about that and am hoping to cook more. So maybe more dog treat recipes soon?
I’m also thrilled to be able to explore a new area especially all that Denver and Colorado have to offer. I actually visited for the very first time earlier this month and was blown away with the gorgeous mountain views, so I’m really pumped to get out and enjoy the outdoors with Ralph & Luna!
The past few weeks have been a lot of work and not a lot of fun. We’ve been trying our very best to down size and sell off furniture or donate. I’m a bit of a pack rat and I find sentimental value in a lot of things, so that’s always challenging for me. Plus, dealing with people via Craigslist isn’t always fun and easy. But, we’ve almost made our way through it. We still have a bit to pack this weekend and a few more things to get rid of, but we’re nearly there!
So when are we actually making the move? August 2!
YOU MEAN THIS AUGUST SECOND? Yes, the one that is looming dangerously close and is now less than a week away. I said SOON, didn’t I?
We’ll be doing another cross country road trip with the dogs. Though we are planning to tow a small trailer we are having most of our belongings shipped. The first week may be pretty interesting without all our stuff, but we’ll make it work!
So wish us luck and stay tuned for more posts coming soon! Keep an eye out specifically for tips on how to do a cross country move with dogs (successfully or not…) and recaps on our road trip and Colorado adventures.
