I know Thanksgiving was last week, but we are SO thankful to have you all in our lives. Especially this year as 2016 has been full of challenges, new adventures, and few heartbreaking losses. I know I haven’t given as much to Beagles & Bargains as I wanted to, but knowing that you all were there waiting for our occasional post really warms my heart! 2017 will bring new beginnings and new energy, but before we get there we are going to say goodbye to 2016 with a bang!

I don’t think I’ve ever felt the way I do about an inanimate object as I do about Alcott’s super amazing nylon collars and leashes. That’s not THAT weird, right?
I’m serious these are my absolute favorites. My advice to all dog parents is to stop whatever it is you are doing right now and go get your dog an Alcott collar and leash. It will be the best purchase you ever make for your dog.

Now I’m not against have a festive collar or two, especially for fun holidays like Christmas, but it’s always good to have a high quality collar and leash to fall back on. For me that will always be Alcott.
My love of these simple nylon collars and leashes might seem a bit irrational to some, so I’m going to break it down into five reasons why these are simply the best.
Five Reasons Alcott Adventure Collars & Leashes Are the Absolute Best
1. Reflective Stitching
Reflectiveness is super important to me for dog collars and leashes. We tend to find ourselves on evening walks or jogs after the sun has already gone down (especially this time of year)! Having something that will reflect light reduces any worry I have about Ralph and Luna being seen. Alcott collar and leashes have always been reflective, but recently they improved the design by using reflective stitching instead of just reflective stickers. Now the reflective bits won’t rub off over time! And the fact that they took the time and effort to improve an already amazing products shows me that they really care.

2. Long Lasting
These things last forever and now with the new update to use reflective stitching, they’ll last even longer. I got my first Alcott collar and leash for Luna back in March 2014 and I’ve used it nearly every day for two years. Sure, it got a bit duller and dirtier, but physically it held up. It didn’t even bat an eyelash at all Luna’s pulling or Ralph trying to chew on it. We’ve upgraded from the original purely for aesthetic reasons, but I’ll still keep them around as a back up or in case of an emergency.
3. Bright Colors
I love it when collars pop. That’s actually what drew me to Alcott in the first place. They have fun bright colors in green, orange, teal, pink, red plus a few extra bright ones in neon orange and neon yellow. And if bright colors aren’t your thing, then don’t worry they have black and gray as well. Even though these don’t have super cute or fun patterns, I think the bright colors still can allow your dog to show off their personality and be seen!
4. Padded Handles and Collars
Do you have a dog that pulls? Have you tried everything, but they can still kind of be a jerk (who you love so very much)? Then your mind is about to be blown. All Alcott leashes come with neoprene padded handles and the collars are lined with the same thing. It doesn’t solve the problem, but it makes living with it a bit more bearable. Plus, the leashes come in multiple sizes so you can get a thin one for small dogs who have good manners and get a thicker one for small dogs with no manners or big fluffy dogs. The handles and clips are sturdy, so you at least have a chance of holding on when your dog goes sprinting after a squirrel.
5. Versatility
In the last few years, Alcott has really branched out from the traditional dog collar and leash. Just recently they added the Weekender Adventure Leash and a Martingale Collar. The Weekender has a buckle in the leash’s handle, which allows you to easily attach the leash to a table leg or fence while you are spending time outside with your dog. It’s great for picnics, eating on a restaurant patio, and even camping trips! They even have matching harnesses too.
