This week is bittersweet. Even though Fall doesn’t technically begin until September 23, I’ve always felt like Labor Day Weekend was the end of Summer and beginning of Fall.

I love Fall, don’t get me wrong. The leaves start changing. It isn’t as ridiculously hot and humid anymore. And there is pumpkin everywhere. I could probably live off of pumpkin, sweet potato, and butternut squash during the Fall no problem. Luna could too as those are some of her favorites all year round.

With Summer ending, so does the leniency at work to leave early on Fridays. Mr. Job will take me away from Luna for even longer now. And, this also means winter is coming!! I love the family holiday time and decorating my apartment like crazy, but it’s already dark by 7:30 here. I’m not ready for the short days and long nights of winter.

Sleepy Luna isn't ready for the day to start!

The seasons are changing and there is nothing we can do about it, so we might as well enjoy it and take advantage of the three day weekend that it brings. That’s exactly what we are going to do! We’ve all had a busy summer, so we’re definitely ready for some relaxing over this Labor Day Weekend.

As Luna has plenty of food to eat and a good comfy bed to sleep on, she is perfectly content. She also likes a bit of adventure, especially in the great outdoors. (Although I know it’s not very apparent from these photos…) So, this three day weekend we are heading up to the Finger Lakes in New York.

"Are you sure we have to get up now?" - Luna

I’m so excited because I’m bringing Luna to my Alma Matter, Cornell University, for the first time! Hopefully she will put up with all of my picture taking. This will be the first weekend after classes started, so we’ll be able to see the campus “alive” though it shouldn’t be too busy. Cornell also recently finished a building donated by Bill and Melinda Gates which now houses my major, so I’m thrilled to see this new shiny building!

We’ll also be visiting some of my favorite wineries and catching up with old friends. I’m sure Luna will ham it up and get a lot of attention. Hopefully we’ll have time to grill out and hop on a few hiking trails.

No matter what, I’ll let you know how it goes! And if you are in the US, I hope you have a great Labor Day Weekend too!

What are your plans for Labor Day Weekend?

Luna thinks it is time for a nap!
