It is the home stretch now! Just eight more days are left of the April Blogging from A to Z Challenge. Last week for the letter ‘M’, I talked about how buying the best you can afford is key when it comes to budgeting. With so many options on the market, a little extra research can result in a higher quality product within budget. When it comes to pet products, I strive to present these high value products and make the research much easier for you!
When I heard that The Honest Kitchen was launching a new recipe with budget in mind, I was thrilled. When Luna isn’t eating kibble, she is eating The Honest Kitchen’s dehydrated dog food. She gets dehydrated food when we are on the go because I find it easier to pack and it sits better in her stomach during travel. As much as I love the quality of The Honest Kitchen, the price has been a bit of an obstacle.
The Honest Kitchen‘s new recipe is called Revel and they sent Luna a 2 lb box to try. Our Revel sample was devoured just like all the other recipes from The Honest Kitchen.
The cost of Revel is only $59.99 for a 10 lb box. This is below the cost of their other recipes, which range from $64.99 to $119.99 for a 10 lb box, and other dog foods on the market. The number of days of food from a 10 lb box varies drastically on the size of your dog, ranging from 160 days to 7 days. A dog Luna’s size (25 lbs) can enjoy between 20-80 days of food, depending on their activity level.
This price point really makes Revel an affordable option.
Revel includes free range chicken, organic oats & barley, flaxseeds, carrots and bananas.
Just like all The Honest Kitchen’s recipes, Revel needs to be hydrated with water before serving. This is a big bonus to me because Luna doesn’t always drink enough water. I have control over her water intake and can ensure she gets enough since I know she will gobble it all up.
A possible downside to this recipe is that some dogs may have an intolerance to chicken or grains. If your dog does not have these dietary restrictions, then Revel is a great entry option for trying out dehydrated dog food.
If you are interested in trying The Honest Kitchen’s dehydrated food, you can order a 2 lb box (affiliate link). You can save $8 off the box with our promo code AMBBGJS7123.
