Picking out the right dog food can be difficult especially if you are trying to stick to a certain lifestyle for yourself and also include your pets. Consuming organic and sustainably produced food has become a lot easier in recent years as it has grown in popularity. However, it’s still quite difficult to find great meal options that fit the mold for both dogs and cats.

If you have the time and budget to cook for your pets, then you have a better ability of controlling what they are actually consuming. However, that is not realistic for most pet parents. I love both Ralph and Luna with all my heart, but regularly cooking meals for them is unfortunately out of the question.

Luckily, players in the pet food industry are starting to pay attention and listening to the needs of pet parents – especially those in my own generation. We want to give our pets the very best while giving back to this planet we call home.

Petcurean Expands Pet Food Line with Organic, Sustainably Produced GATHER | dogs | cats

Late last year pet food company Petcurean launched a new line of dog and cat food called GATHER™ to specifically fill this gap in the pet industry. When the product launched, they sent Ralph and Luna a few bags of food to sample and report back on.

Petcurean is a Canadian pet food company that operates under the philosophy that there is not a one for all food since they were founded in 1999. Their goal is to create a recipe for each and every pet. As a family owned business, they operate independently and carefully make every decision that affects the food they produce. They live by the rule of “quality first, pets first, without compromise.”

Ingredients used in all Petcurean recipes are carefully sourced from a trusted network. That means no by-product meals, un-named meat meals, or any ingredient from China. Petcurean also has a nutritionist on staff with a PhD in the science of formulating pet food, Dr. Jennifer Adolphe.

GATHER is crafted with certified and organic ingredients that are perfectly blended and balanced to provide dogs and cats with quality, natural nutrition. Petcurean searched high and low for farmers, growers, and fishers who were practicing responsible, sustainable production of the desired ingredients.

According to Petcurean, there were five key pillars that they examined to find their trusted GATHER partners:

Following humane animal welfare practices
Protecting water supplies and limiting water use
Protecting farmer, rancher, and producer livelihoods
Ensuring the preservation of natural resources
Actively working to preserve biodiversity

The GATHER line from Petcurean has three recipes for dogs and one recipe for cats. These recipes include WILD OCEAN Line-Caught Cod and FREE ACRES Organic Free-Run Chicken for adult dogs. A FREE ACRES Organic Free-Run Chicken recipe is also available for cats.

Also included in this new line of pet food is the ENDLESS VALLEY Vegan recipe for adult dogs. I personally do not think I would feed my dogs a vegan diet as I would need to put more research into the nutritionally value that it would provide. However, I do have friends and acquaintances that eat a vegan diet themselves and so they may find this as an attractive option.

GATHER contains 100% certified organic whole chicken, peas, flax-seed, oatmeal, and barley. 100% of Petcurean’s line-caught cod and krill is certified by the Marine Stewardship Council to be sustainably harvested. Additionally, every ingredient in GATHER is NON-GMO.

Petcurean also didn’t stop at the food when trying to be green and sustainable. They wanted to reduce the use of traditional polyethylene in GATHER packaging. To still have a bag that was strong, durable, and preserved freshness they switched to using 30% “bio-based plastic” made from sugarcane.

Taste-wise, all three recipes were a hit for both Ralph and Luna. If eating organic or sustainably produced food is important to you, then I recommend you check out Petcurean’s latest dog and cat food addition – GATHER.

Petcurean SPIKE jerky dog treats are made with unique proteins like Catfish and Venison

While you are checking out Petcurean’s latest offerings, take a look at their high quality jerky treat offerings under the product line SPIKE. My favorite thing about Petcurean’s SPIKE treat is their unique protein offerings. Currently jerky treats are available in Venison, Turkey, Catfish, and Duck.

The treats are easy to tear into smaller pieces for training, which I love. Both Luna and Ralph are fans of the two flavors we have sampled – Venison and Duck. They come running as soon as I open a bag!

Disclaimer: I was sent free samples to help spread the word about Petcurean’s GATHER and SPIKE product lines. I received no other compensation or additional benefits for mentioning the products in this post. The opinions and ideas in this post are my own and are uninfluenced by any other person or business.
