A few weekends ago, Luna and I attended a pet friendly festival called Wags N’ Whiskers at the Village at Shirlington in Arlington, Virginia. This was our second year attending since we had so much fun at last year’s festival.

The best part of this festival is that so many pet rescues were present. Tons of volunteers were working hard to find these loving animals forever homes.

Even after attending last year, I never realized just how pet friendly the Village at Shirlington is. Nearly all the restaurants have pet friendly patios, so you can enjoy brunch, lunch, or dinner with your furry friend.

While we were visiting, the weather was actually quite rainy, but I was surprised at how many of the patios were covered and still serving to pet parents. We chose to eat at the Copperwood Tavern. I had wanted to try this restaurant for quite some time and was glad I finally did.

I’ll definitely be visiting Copperwood Tavern again because the food was delicious and the service was great. I selected to try the Blueberry Ricotta Pancakes and they were amazing! My boyfriend enjoyed Bagels and Lox, which he highly enjoyed, and Luna snacked on some jerky, which we brought, and a bit of popcorn, which is served instead of bread.

In addition to having a great food selection, Copperwood Tavern also has a special Dog of the Month. Each month a dog is selected to win a special gift basket from Dogma Bakery, a local dog bakery. The photo of the winning dog will also be add to the “Dog Hall of Fame,” which is located inside the restaurant. You can enter your dog by sending a quick email to info@copperwoodtavern.com with a picture of your dog, his or her name, birthday, and a brief description about why you think they should be dog of the month.

In addition to Copperwood Tavern, I noticed tons of other restaurants with pet friendly patios such as Carlyle, Aladdin’s, Guapo’s, Luna Grill and Diner (yes, Luna!), Capitol City Brewing Company, Best Buns, and more!

Dogma Bakery is also located right inside the Village at Shirlington, so you can pick up a few gourmet treats for your furry friends!

In addition to the great shopping and restaurant options, there is a near by dog park and walking trail. If you happen to be visiting Washington DC or Northern Virginia, be sure to stop by the Village at Shirlington.
