Balancing the A to Z Challenge and the 52 Snapshots of Life Photo Challenge is a bit difficult, so I’m a little late with this week’s photo. This week’s snapshot theme is BLESSINGS and I just knew that I had to write about Luna.
When I adopted Luna from her rescue group, I knew that I wanted a dog, but I didn’t know just how much I really needed a dog. I was looking for a companion. Someone I could talk to and snuggle when I saw fit.
Now I snuggle when Luna wants and my social life pretty much revolves around her. My life has become dogcentric and I love it because in exchange I have a best friend. She is a dog, but she is there to comfort me when I’m sick, listen to me when I’m stressed, and provide A LOT of laughs. If you only knew some of the hilarious situations this dog gets herself into.
When I decided to adopt a dog, I thought I was getting just that – a dog. In the end, I got so much more. She really was a blessing in disguise.
If you are thinking about adding a pet to your family, I highly recommend attending a local rescue event. Even if you end up going with a responsible breeder, you have the opportunity to interact and observe a variety of different dogs. And who knows, you might even fall in love at first sight like I did with Luna.

I do also have to give a quick shout out to the other blessing in my life. My boyfriend of over six years, who has made pet parenthood much easier. There you go. Now you are famous.
