Every day I come home after a long day at work and am greeted by Luna wiggling and presenting me with the biggest toy she can find. After playing with her for a bit, I head straight for our couch to relax, usually laying my head down onto one of our sofa pillows. The pillows which my wiggling dog had just moments prior been sleeping, sitting, and whole knows what else on. If you have already figured it out, this means I’m putting my head right where my dog’s butt used to be.
I guess I’ve just become so accustomed to Luna’s special scent that I’ve gone noseblind, which is okay when it is just me. But the last thing I want is for one of our house guests to come over and get a whiff of dog butt on our couch pillows. Thankfully Febreze™ comes to the rescue with Febreze Fabric Refresher and their new Petiquette Lessons!
This post is sponsored by Febreze™ and the BlogPaws Professional Pet Blogger Network. I am being compensated for helping spread the word about #Petiquette, but Beagles & Bargains only shares information we feel is relevant to our readers. Febreze is not responsible for the content of this article.
Every year my boyfriend and I have at least 2-3 large parties where we invite friends over, have a delicious potluck, and watch a big game or play games of our own. That doesn’t even count the more spontaneous events or visitors from out of town. With all the tempting food from the potluck and many unknowing house guests, I’m so focused on making sure Luna doesn’t eat everything that I don’t have time to worry about how my apartment or couch smell. For the past few years, I have always trusted in Febreze Fabric Refresher to get rid of any lingering dog smell on our couch and in our apartment.
The reason I’ve trusted in Febreze is that Febreze products eliminate the odors and don’t just mask them with pretty scents. Adding additional scents to an already smelly situation definitely doesn’t make sense, so I always look for solutions to really eliminate the problem. The light, fresh scent left behind by Febreze is an added bonus! In addition to the Febreze Fabric Refresher, the Febreze Car Vent Clip and Febreze Air Effects also help combat stinky pet odors.
Even though I’ve been using Febreze Fabric Fresher with success, I’m still worried that I might not be completely removing all the bed smells since I’m so noseblind and I am not alone! In a recent survey, 60% of pet owners say they would hate if their guests thought their homes smelled of animals, for good reason too. About 24% of Americans find pet smells the MOST offensive smell within a home, second only to garbage and ranking above cigarette smoke.
That’s why Luna and I are headed to the Febreze School of Petiquette to prevent any awkward or stinky experiences for our future house guests (and we are bringing our rat and mouse friends with us).
Febreze School of Petiquette Tips
- For the Hoarding Pup – Luna is a hoarder. She has a corner of our living room where she has two beds and about a thousand toys, but oh my can it smell! For this situation, I wash her belongings regularly and turn to Febreze Fabric Refresher for surprise visits to quickly eliminate stinky odors from her beds and toys.
- For the Couch Snuggler – I encourage Luna to join me on the couch and in bed because I just can’t turn down a good snuggle! But, allowing and encouraging Luna to join me on the furniture means that they can absorb her doggy smells. To prevent the butt pillow situation, I regularly vacuum and use Febreze Fabric Refresher on our cushions.
- For the Frequent Traveler – I love going on pet friendly trips with Luna, but it is a pretty big ordeal to keep our seats protected from all her dog hair, smells, and even potential sickness. In addition to protecting our seats with towels and a cover, I am armed with our Febreze Car Vent Clip to prevent my car from smelling like a kennel.
- For the Unpleasant Surprises – Let’s face it. Accidents happen. Dogs can get sick or might not be able to hold it until you get home every time. When accidents happen, I tackle them immediately to remove any stains and a bulk of the smell. Then, I use Febreze Air Effects for any bad odors that might be lingering.
