Yesterday, we joined the conversation on lost pets to share some useful tips for keeping your pets safe during a move. This post was part of Lost Pet Prevention Month hosted by PetHub and if you missed it and have a move coming up, be sure to check it out!
I’m a big fan of the award winning company PetHub ever since I first stumbled across their QR code dog tags during the first year of writing on Beagles & Bargains. Not only does their product help get lost dogs found, but they do it in an affordable and fashionable way.
Why would I want a QR code dog tag? Well QR codes are a special type of barcode that is pretty nifty. Each code is created to contain information when scanned. In the case of PetHub’s tags, they point to the PetHub website and pass an identifying ID for your pet. This means that if your dog or cat gets out and someone happens to find them, they can scan the barcode on the back of their ID tag to load a webpage with more information about your pet and how to contact you. Thereby getting lost pets found more often and faster since nowadays nearly every smart phone is equipped with the ability to scan QR codes!
When you register a PetHub tag, you are able to add your pet’s photo and medical information plus a contact phone number. As an added bonus, PetHub will email you as soon as your dog’s code or PetHub page is viewed, so you have a better idea of if your pet is safe!
Because we want to make sure your pets are as safe as they can be, we’ve partnered with PetHub to give a few lucky reader’s a brand spanking new PetHub ID tag for their dog! And because we know every dog has their own personality, we’re letting the winners pick the design of their tag! You can find some of our favorites below, but you can see all the designs over on PetHub’s website. Luna wears her mustache tag everyday!
