The holidays can get so busy that sometimes it’s tough to think about everyone in your life. While I try to stay organized through the Christmas season with endless lists even Santa would approve, I know I still forget a few things. The one thing I make sure I do – no matter what – is to carve out special bits of time to spend quality time with my dogs.

I know Ralph & Luna pick up on when I’m stressed, which is pretty much guaranteed to happen this time of year, so it’s very important that I give them quality time even when the world is spinning out of control around us. I think it helps keep our bond strong and also reduce their own stress and anxiety. To make this easier, I have a list of go to ideas for some spending quality time together. And because it’s the season of giving, I’m sharing a few of them specific to the holiday season below.

But that’s not all! This post marks the beginning of the 2018 Stocking Stuffer Giveaways. Starting today, we’ll be sharing 10 days of giveaways with 40 prizes valued at over $1,700! Bookmark this link to ensure you enter ALL 10 giveaways.

How to Include Your Dog in Your Holiday Plans

Go On a Christmas Lights Walk or Drive

One of the best things about the holidays is all the twinkling lights that cover trees and homes all over the world. I love driving or walking through neighborhoods that have a ton of homes decorated in lights. Why not include the dogs also? If you’re driving, load everyone in the car and be sure to bring some water because winter can be extra dry. If you’re walking, be sure to bundle up – even the dogs! Don’t forget their jacket and boots (or Pawz). Don’t forget the camera either. Just think of all the photo opportunities!

Eat Christmas Cookies

If us humans get special treats during the holidays, I think that it’s only fair that the pups do too. Making Christmas cookies is an annual tradition in my family, but with each year that passes it seems like we have less and less time to do so. I know my dogs would absolutely love home baked treats, but sometimes there just isn’t time. That’s why I’m so thrilled that Wellness Pet Food has come out with a seasonal version of their WellBites and WellBars. During Christmastime, these dog treats are available in Gingerbread and you can choose between soft or crunchy based on your pup’s personal preference.

Schedule Nap Time

Sometimes I just need a few minutes to lay down and decompress. That time spent is even better if I can snuggle my two pups. If I need to catch up on sleep, nap time is a great option. But if there’s not enough time in the day for a real nap, I set a timer for 15-30 and snuggle under a blanket with my dogs. Another great option? Watching a classic Christmas movie or some seasonal TV!

Send Christmas Cards

For the last few years, we’ve been sending out Christmas cards to all our friends and family. Naturally, we include Ralph & Luna in all the photos! Though we aren’t always on time (I still need to get to it this year!), we have so much fun wearing cute matching outfits and trying to capture a photo where the four of us all look reasonable. It’s definitely a fun activity if you aren’t aiming for perfection and there are normally tons of bloopers to laugh at later.

Visit Santa

I love that there are more and more opportunities for pets to meet Santa! We haven’t done it yet because I’m a little afraid Ralph might try to eat Santa, but am hoping to check out a pet friendly Santa event at our local mall this week. If you don’t know of a pet friendly Santa photo opportunity yet, check out your local pet stores (even big chains like Petco and PetSmart) or even your favorite animal rescue because they are great fundraising events. If you’re pup has visited with Santa, be sure to send us a photo!

About Wellness Holiday Gingerbread Crunchy WellBars & Soft WellBites

Both the Wellness Holiday Gingerbread Crunchy WellBars and the Soft WellBites are made only with all natural, premium ingredients. These seasonal dog treats are gluten free, and of course made with a tasty Gingerbread flavor. These cookies are definitely on the good list with no corn, soy, wheat, artificial colors or flavors! The Crunchy WellBars are just that, super crunchy! And they are oven baked into four different fun holiday shapes – snowflake. stocking, star, and Christmas tree. The Soft WellBites are moist and made with chicken. Though they don’t come in cute shapes, they make up for it in flavor dogs will love.

Right now you can get both treats over at Chewy.com. The Wellness Gingerbread Soft WellBites are $8.49 for a 6 oz bag and the Wellness Gingerbread Crunchy WellBars are $4.49 for a 8 oz bag. My two dogs thoroughly enjoyed both the soft and crunchy treats, so I bet yours will too.
