I found Luna at an adoption event held by the Homeless Animals Rescue Team (HART) at a local Petco. When I first met her, she had just been rescued and did not even have a name. Two weeks after I first met her and after a few interviews and some paperwork, I was able to bring Luna home. Even after sacrificing a Kindle and some carpet to separation anxiety, I have not looked back.

HART is a rescue group that rehomes dogs and cats. If you live in the Virgina, DC, or Maryland area, HART has a wonderful opportunity to support rescue animals and find a few great deals.

HART is hosting a Yard Sale on April 27 from 7AM – 1PM in Herndon, VA. They are looking for both donations to sell and buyers. If you love bargain hunting like me, be sure to drop by! This is also a great chance to get rid of any unwanted (but still usable) items and it is tax deductible! For more information visit HART’s announcement page.

Luna and I will be in attendance (but maybe not right at 7AM.) We love yard sales and rescue animals. We hope to see some of you there!

Not in the VA/DC/MD area?
There are many other ways to support your local animal rescues. If you do not know who your local rescues, support groups, or shelters are, PetFinder has a search to help you find them! Visit their websites and keep an eye out for local events. If you live in the Orlando, FL area, check out Life With Beagle for some local events too.

How do you support your local rescue animals?
