Over Monday night into Tuesday, the Northern Virginia area got several inches of snow and we are expecting a bit more this afternoon. Now I know this is nothing like poor New England, but here we are all nuts and incredibly terrified of a little white stuff.

I love a good snowfall, especially after spending four years in Ithaca, New York for school (Even Ithaca threw in the towel recently. Did you see? Cracked me up!), BUT THIS COLD. Seriously. It gets me wishing for warmer weather.

Even Luna is not a fan. Because I am such an amazing pet parent and Luna knows it. When she gets to cold on a walk, she just lifts two of her opposite paws into the air and I pick her up and carry her home. She certainly has me wrapped around her little paw.

Yesterday for my day job I had a work from home day (AKA a snow day for people who primarily work on a computer), so I got to spend the day with Luna. As part of our island dreaming, I made us each a fruit smoothie and shared it on our Instagram account (Do you follow us?).

This smoothie is super super easy and perfect for pretending you are at the beach.

Easy Snow Day Smoothies for Dogs (and Humans)!

Easy Smoothie for Dogs & Humans

Total Time: 5 minutes

Yield: 2 smoothies


  • 1 Banana
  • 1 cup Strawberries
  • 1/2 cup Blueberries
  • 1/4 Greek yogurt (plain nonfat)


  1. Wash, peel, cut up fruit
  2. Use immersion blender to blend
  3. Mix in Greek yogurt
  4. Enjoy!

You can also be make this smoothie with any pet safe fruit you have on hand or even without the Greek yogurt if you don’t have any on hand.
