How to Teach Your Dog to Play Dead
I couldn’t think of a better trick to teach for our Halloween themed event than “Play Dead”. In our house, we call it “BANG!” and it’s one of Luna’s favorites. She always makes the most ridiculous faces while she is pretending to be “dead”.
It’s her go to when you have something in your hand that she really really wants to eat. Sometimes she gets so excited that she just flails herself onto the floor with her mouth open, probably hoping something delicious falls into it.
I taught Luna “BANG!” after she had already mastered “Roll Over”. If your dog doesn’t yet know “Roll Over”, you are in luck because our friends Dexter and Carol over at Fidose of Reality posted a tutorial video just yesterday!
I’m definitely no training expert and making the video turned out to be quite the challenge since Luna didn’t want to break down the steps with me, but here is our attempt! I hope it inspires you to teach your dog to “Play Dead” or another fun trick this Halloween.
Always remember to keep things positive when you are teaching a new trick!
