The one thing I wish I knew before adopting Luna was just how much a short haired dog could shed. Beagles quite surprisingly are “moderate to heavy” shedders. What the woof!

I had been spoiled by my family’s low shedding Labradoodle (oh hey Cousin Keto) and I was under the very wrong common misconception that short haired breeds didn’t shed. To put it simply, I wasn’t quite prepared for dog hair appearing nearly everywhere in my apartment.

Fortunately, I’m not that much of a neat freak, so I just learned to embrace it and find creative solutions to make do. Luna catapults her hair everywhere, so we just send our Roomba around after her to gobble it all up. Problem solved!

Not!

Why are we talking about dog hair today anyway?

This week’s (or was it last week? I can’t even keep track anymore) 52 Snapshots of Life theme is the word BLACK. While black is a pretty common color (or lack of color), it’s also pretty boring.

To make things more interesting, I decided to take a bunch of obnoxiously close up photos of Luna to show off her different black features. (We’ll get to those in a minute.)

What showed up in all of these photos?

Dog hair. Lots and lots of dog hair.

Do you know where else dog hair has appeared?

  • In my tea at work… where Luna has never been.
  • Wedged so far into my phone case that I needed a surgeon to get it out.
  • Inside our microwave.
  • In Las Vegas. Too bad it didn’t stay there.
  • And of course at a fancy restaurant where Luna also wasn’t.

And now for what I’m sure you have been waiting for… some of my favorites from my ridiculously close up photo shoot with Luna.

Beagle ears are the best. Luna's are so soft!

A close up of Luna's black nose and pink tongue!

Luna takes a nap in the grass.

A close up of Luna adorable puppy face.

Luna is a happy dog!

Where is the weirdest place you have found dog (or cat) hair?
