I’m always thrilled to see and try out new pet tech, so I was thrilled to give this smart feeder a whirl.

An automatic pet feeder would help relieve some of that guilt as I would have known that Luna would be fed on time. Of course I still had to walk Luna, so it doesn’t remove ALL the guilt, but some. Cats on the other hand can use their litter box inside, so it is an even better fit.
More Frequent, Smaller Meals
With a programmable automatic pet feeder, you can schedule multiple meals with smaller portion sizes if that fits your pet’s schedule. This may be a good option for dogs or cats who get bored throughout the day or even experience a bit of separation anxiety. When we tackled Luna’s separation anxiety, one of the things that worked for us was splitting up her meal in smaller vessels throughout our apartment and feeding her when we left. The Smart Feed would certainly allow pet parents to do that!
Fresh Food for Each Meal
Did you know that pet food can go stale? And some pets even notice? If you have a picky pet (especially a cat), then an automatic feeder may be the right fit for them. This allows you to release single portion (or even smaller) amounts of food at a time rather than leaving an open bowl out while you are away.

The Smart Feed connects to the WiFi in your house, so you can control and adjust it via an app on your smart phone (either Android or iPhone). Through the Smart Feed app, you can schedule up to 12 meals a day ranging in size from 1/8 cup to 4 cups. When it’s time to dispense a meal, it will flow into a stainless steel bowl with a 5 cup capacity that is idea for cats and small to medium sized dogs. The food hopper itself holds up to 24 cups of dry or semi-moist food.

And if you have a super food hound like mine, you can try their “Slow Feed” option, which delivers the food over a 15 minute period. The Smart Feed app will also send alerts, so you can monitor your pet’s feeding even when you’re not at home. It also sends alerts if your are running low on food or if the feeder has gone offline.
This automatic pet feeder is designed to work with most size and shapes of kibble. Who knew there were so many?! It’s also easy to clean and take apart – many pieces are even dishwasher safe. Most important of all? It was designed to be pet proof and to keep hungry paws out of the food storage!
The Smart Feed requires a wireless router 2.4GHz (802.11b/g/n) and a compatible iPhone or iPod with iOS 9.0 or later or Android smartphone 5.0 or later.
