Today is National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day, so stop whatever you are doing and make yourself a delicious peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Don’t stop there because dogs love peanut butter too.

But, keep in mind that it is high in fat, so you probably shouldn’t feed it every day!

In honor of this special day, Luna chowed down on some mini peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. We used natural peanut butter and a bit of pumpkin sandwiched between two Blue Dog Bakery Super Stars.

When picking a peanut butter for your dog, be sure to pick one that is all-natural with no added salt or sugar. If you can’t find one in your local supermarket, I found that Dog for Dog makes three different peanut butter varieties just for dogs!

Regular human jam or jelly shouldn’t be fed to dogs because it is so high in sugar, but you could easily blend or crush some fresh fruit like strawberries, blueberries, or even bananas. We took a short cut and used canned pumpkin for convenience.

The “bread” can easily be made from any of your dog’s existing dog treats.
