There’s nothing I love more than supporting products that not only give back to the communities they come from, but actually improve the lives of those that help bring the product to market. While I’m extremely fortunate for the situation I was born into, I realize that in so many parts of the world it can be tough to find enough food or money to support a growing family. When I learned about an opportunity to get my dogs a super unique bandana AND give back to the families that work to create the fabric the bandanas are made from, I was hooked!
Jazal Color is a one of kind business that puts humanity and design first. We’ll get to just how bandanas from Jazal Color can help give back shortly, but now you just need to know that they are happily sponsoring Day #11 of our 2017 Stocking Stuffer Giveaways. These bandanas are well put together, made with high quality fabrics, and so unique that you won’t find another one exactly like it (though you may find ones made of the same handmade fabric). Keep on reading to learn more about this brand and how to win a bandana for your dog!
How Your Dog’s Bandanas Can Give Back
Based in both Los Angeles and Guatemala, Jazal Color hopes to show the world the beautiful colors of Mayan culture by using unique Mayan textiles in the products they offer. The textiles are corte (Mayan wrap dresses) or huipil (Mayan blouses) and are hand-woven by Guatemalan women artisans.
These textiles feature vibrant colors in a wide variety of patterns, so there is sure to be one that catches your eye. I can’t get enough of the bright patterns and fun color combinations.
Purchasing a bandana from Jazal Color will earn your dog a one of a kind bandana that they surely will look amazing in and will help to ensure that the artisans who create the Mayan textiles earn fair wages. It also allows Jazal Color to support children with food and education in rural communities of Guatemala.
Currently, Jazal Color is committed to helping a non-profit organization in Guatemala called TRANSCENDER (Asociación de Desarrollo Integral Trascender or “The Club” as the children call it). This organization assists low income families with scholarships, literacy, remedial classes, and academic tutoring. For each item that is purchased from Jazal Color, they help support TRANSCENDER by providing school supplies and educational materials.
Jazal Color stands up against child labor and unfair labor wages. By purchasing from this business, you truly are helping to improve the lives of others.
